How BArch management quota works
Many private engineering colleges admit a share of seats through an institute-level or management route after the centralised admission process. Candidates must still meet the eligibility set by AICTE and the state, and fees must match the figure approved by the state fee regulating authority.
This guide explains the legitimate route, who is eligible, which documents you need and how to avoid fraud.
Who is eligible
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with the minimum aggregate set by the Council of Architecture, plus a valid NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 score.
Management and NRI seats follow the same academic eligibility and exam requirement (NATA and JEE Main Paper 2) as other seats.
The safe step-by-step route
Follow this order to stay within the rules:
- Confirm the institution and course are approved for the current intake.
- Check whether the institution has management, institutional or NRI seats this year.
- Register on the official counselling or institutional portal before the deadline.
- Ask for the fee approved by the fee regulatory authority, in writing.
- Pay only to the institution's official bank account and keep all receipts.
NRI and NRI-sponsored seats
NRI seats usually need proof of the sponsor's NRI status, the relationship to the candidate, and a sponsorship affidavit. Requirements are set by the counselling authority and vary by state.
- Sponsor's passport and visa or residence permit
- Embassy or consulate certificate where required
- Proof of relationship
- Sponsorship affidavit
Red flags to avoid
Walk away if anyone:
- Guarantees a seat without the required exam score
- Asks for cash or payment to a personal account
- Will not give the fee schedule or offer in writing
- Pressures you to pay before counselling results
